What Is a Synthetic Turf Shock Pad?
A synthetic turf shock pad is a foam layer laid between the base and the artificial grass. It takes the impact of feet, falls and balls that the base would otherwise send straight back into the body. Installers also call it artificial turf underlay, artificial grass underlay, fake turf underlay, turf underlayment (US) or shockpad (UK). The job is the same.
Without padding, artificial turf on concrete feels hard and shows every joint and crack in the slab. With a shock pad under it, synthetic grass on concrete, paving or decking feels closer to a natural lawn, and small dips in the base are evened out.
Why rebonded EVA for artificial turf padding? EVA is a closed-cell foam, so each chip in the pad holds its shape and does not take on water. Bonding the chips into one sheet gives a firm but forgiving pad that springs back after load. It is lighter than recycled rubber underlay, so one person can carry and lay the sheets.

Each artificial turf shock pad starts as clean EVA foam scrap from our own production lines. We shred it, press it into a solid block under heat and pressure, then slice the block into sheets of the thickness you need.

Where Our Artificial Turf Underlay Is Used
The same rebonded EVA pad works as a shock pad for artificial grass and as synthetic grass underlay for sport, play and landscaping. Many installers buy artificial grass and underlay together; we supply the underlay to match your turf. Thickness is the main thing that changes between jobs.
Football, soccer and multi-sport pitches
A synthetic turf shock pad under the carpet takes the sting out of tackles and falls and keeps the playing feel even across the field. Sports contractors pick the thickness to suit the turf system and the level of play.
Playground turf padding
Playground turf padding gives a soft, clean surface without loose mulch or rubber chips. The thicker the pad, the more cushioning under swings and slides. Fall height depends on the whole system (turf, pad and base), so test the finished surface where local rules require it.
Artificial grass on concrete, rooftops and balconies
For synthetic turf on concrete, a patio, a roof terrace or a balcony, the pad hides joints and cracks and makes the lawn comfortable to walk and sit on. It is light enough to carry up to a rooftop.

Under pet turf, EVA does not hold water or smell like rubber. Plan the base so rain and wash water run off along its slope and through the joints between sheets.

What is a synthetic turf shock pad?
A synthetic turf shock pad is a foam layer laid under artificial grass to absorb impact and level the base. It is also called artificial turf underlay, artificial grass underlay or turf underlayment. It makes the turf softer to walk, play and fall on.
What is your shock pad made of?
Our shock pad is made of 100% EVA foam. Clean EVA offcuts from our own foam lines are shredded, mixed with binder and pressed into a block under heat and pressure, then sliced into sheets.

Can I lay artificial turf on concrete with this pad?
Yes, artificial turf on concrete is one of the main uses. Lay the shock pad on the clean, sloped slab, then fix the artificial grass to concrete edges or the pad following your turf supplier's method.
Does the shock pad have drainage holes?
No, our shock pad is a solid sheet without drainage holes. Water runs off along the slope of the base and through the joints between sheets, so the base should be laid to fall.
Is the shock pad tested for fall height or EN 15330-4?
We do not currently supply a fall height, HIC or EN 15330-4 test report for this pad. These results depend on the full system of turf, pad and base, so test the finished surface if your project requires it.
What colors are available?
The standard pad comes in random mixed colors from recycled EVA chips. A set color mix is possible on request, but the pad is hidden under the turf, so most buyers choose the standard mix.
Is the shock pad made from recycled material?
Yes, the shock pad is made from recycled EVA offcuts. Our factory holds GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certification.
